La Perla Desgastada

Commercial Historical Hotel Design | Partner Project | Spring 2025

AutoCAD | SketchUp | Twinmotion

Inspired by the building’s original use as the Baquero Hardware Store, the first-floor experience embraces a moody, traditional aesthetic that honors the site’s historic past. Named La Perla Desgastada (“The Weathered Pearl”), the interior reflects a romantic, timeworn elegance shaped by the Santo Domingo coast. Layered textures, subdued lighting, and classic detailing guide guests through the building’s history while creating an intimate, luxurious atmosphere. Together, these elements form a distinctive and immersive environment where heritage, relaxation, and elevated hospitality seamlessly converge.

This project is designed for discerning leisure travelers—couples, families, and individuals aged 35–65 with high disposable income—who seek meaningful cultural experiences alongside refined comfort. Guests are drawn to destinations that offer exceptional service, privacy, and luxury while immersing them in the local heritage. Rooted in the history of Edificio Baquero and the coastal character of Santo Domingo, the design highlights Dominican culture through thoughtfully curated spaces and storytelling.
